How Porn Spider works

Where the photos come from, what we refuse to do, and how a creator page is put together. This is the rulebook every page on the site follows.

Sources

Photos reach the archive in two ways:

Open sources. Public forums and communities where the material has already been posted openly. We collect what is already visible to anyone, in the form it was posted.
User submissions. Visitors send photos by email. We accept only what the sender has the right to share, and every submission goes through the same duplicate and quality checks as the rest of the archive.

What we never do: break into accounts, phones, messengers or cloud storage; buy or accept material obtained that way; publish private data such as addresses, phone numbers, documents or messages. Anything that looks like it came from a break-in is not added, and is removed if it slips through.

From a post to a set

One post or upload becomes one set. A set keeps its date, its photo count and the original description. Descriptions in other languages are translated automatically, which is why a set page may say the wording is imprecise.
The date of a set is the date it was posted or added to the archive, not the date the photos were taken.
Sets of one creator are numbered in order: set 1 is the oldest. The creator page shows the latest ones first.

Duplicates, screenshots and low quality

Each file is hashed. An exact copy of a photo already in the archive is skipped, no matter which creator it was posted under.
Near-duplicates within one creator, such as the same photo with a different crop or compression, are skipped too. If a larger copy of an existing photo shows up, it replaces the smaller one.
Contact sheets, collages and screenshots of galleries are filtered out; they are not photos.
Width, height and a sharpness score are stored for every photo. That is where the resolution facts on creator pages come from.

One creator, one page

Creators use different names on different platforms. When the same person appears under several handles, the handles are merged into one page and listed under “Also known as”. When we are not sure two accounts belong to the same person, they stay on separate pages. Links to a creator’s own profiles are shown as icons at the top of the page.

Numbers on the pages

Photo and set counts, first-seen and last-update dates, update cadence, the largest set, the share of photos at 1080p and above: all of it is computed from the archive and refreshed as it changes. Nothing is typed in by hand, and no page carries text that was written to look unique.
